June Newsletter 2026
/Summer is officially here at Melrose and the APHN couldn’t be more excited! We have several updates, events and opportunities for visitors and APHN members alike. Read on for more information on restoration efforts, upcoming events, and opportunities.
The Big House
FRONT OF THE bIG hOUSE
Melrose’s iconic Big House is receiving a fresh coat of paint, new gutters, and structural repairs as part of an ongoing National Park Service Grant the APHN received. When you visit the property this summer, you may notice scaffolding, ladders, and other materials that our team is using to improve the Big House. This is preservation in action! Historic structures require quite a bit of maintenance to ensure that future generations can enjoy them for years to come. More repairs are needed to ensure the longevity of the Big House, so stay tuned for updates!
The Lemee House
Front of Lemee House
Melrose isn’t the only property the APHN cares for! Our organization also takes care of the Lemee House, a beautiful site located on Front Street in Natchitoches. With its manicured gardens and bright shutters, the Lemee House makes for the perfect backdrop to any event. Rent the lovely Lemee House today for your wedding, shower, or celebration!
